International Translation Bureau has a worldwide network of certified and accredited native-speaking, subject-specialized translators who deliver document translations culturally developed for your target audience's acceptance. Both our staff and associates adhere to ITB's Standards Of Practice, and are signatories to a Code of Ethics, as well as a Confidentiality-Non-Disclosure Agreement which ensures complete security of our clients' documents and proprietary information.

Our worldwide multilingual word processing capabilities, in DOS, Microsoft and Macintosh, allows ITB to interface with top translators throughout the globe and fold them into the translations process. For example, when a translation targeted to the Mainland Chinese is completed in ITB's offices, a simple CLICK on "SEND" has the document in front of one of our associates in China for proofreading to begin within minutes. The time schedule is maintained, and a culturally sensitive, localized translation is delivered to our client. ITB has over 600 translators worldwide, including teams of translators for large-scale projects.

ITB has a comprehensive inventory of computer hardware, and we have extensive experience with a broad spectrum of software applications including, but not limited to, QuarkXpress, Microsoft Office Suite, and the Adobe Collection in both PC and Macintosh programs. We are able to reproduce websites, ad copies, training materials, annual reports, technical manuals or instructions with extensive graphics and text for both your business and/or personal use in over 100 languages.

  • ITB's in-house graphic specialists will deliver the translation in the format you specify.
It is important to be aware that when going from English to another language, the translated text may grow by as much as 30% when completed. Also, some punctuation may not transfer to the target language when a culturally sensitive translation is completed. ITB offers consultation to its clients, providing input for the original format design to ensure there will be enough space to preserve the impact of the original layout in the translation.

  • A Project Manager overseas the translation at each step. The Manager assigns document(s) to an appropriate translator or translator team, who are made aware of client expectations and the required time schedule for completing the work.

  • Once the translation is complete, a second translator/proofreader reviews the translation against the original to ensure no omissions have occurred, and that lexicon/glossary application is sensitive to the target audience(s). Also, the proofreader contributes to normal copyediting, correcting any grammatical errors, misspellings, punctuation or diacritical errors.

  • All graphs and charts are carefully edited for content accuracy and for placement within the translated document. Particular attention is paid to those containing numerical or unit values which had to be converted to localize the material to the target audience.

  • If translation has significantly expanded the text, best effort is made to format as closely as possible to the original document's layout. Font size, margins, and style considerations are verified to fit the project's specifications. And finally, the Project Manager performs an overall QA check to ensure that all of your requirements have been met, then notifies you for delivery.

Community Review Option: Depending on the document and/or its purpose, an additional service that might benefit a translation project is a community review, which takes place after formatting has been completed. Members from the target audience community are selected to review and discuss any possible culturally sensitive aspects of the translation, and have the opportunity to suggest wording that they feel might be better understood by their peers. This effort is particularly advisable if a translation involves information of a technical nature, or contains concepts generally unfamiliar to the target audience.
